Summer 2014 eLearning Book Club Selection

Dive into learning this summer and Thrive! Join our eLearning Book Club and read Thrive: 5 Ways to (Re)Invigorate Your Teaching by National Board Certified teacher Meenoo Rami. Our online weekly book discussions will begin on Monday, June 2nd and will end Friday, August 1. (No discussion 4th of July week.) We will begin with a week of introductions, and then each week a discussion prompt will be shared in the blog and participants will be invited to respond, sharing their thoughts, ideas, and/or questions. All participants who make a meaningful contribution to each week’s discussion will be entered into a drawing to win a $1000 professional development grant and will be awarded 12 PGP points. More than one grant will be given, so buy the book (paperback or ebook), join the blog (by clicking on "Join this Site" or "Follow by Email"), and dive into the discussions that begin on June 2nd.

  1. Another teacher at my school and I have been promoting this e-learning site with members of our staff. Hopefully, more teachers from our school will participate this time. I already know of one (beside the two of us) who has purchased the book!

  2. I cannot seem to sign in by way of the methods mentioned above. Is my contribution to the discussion enough to be considered officially a part of the group?

    1. The benefit to joining or following the site is that you will be notified when posts or comments are added to the site. Yes, your contribution to the discussion is what constitutes participation in the book club. Just check the site on Mondays for the new discussion post and, if you choose, periodically throughout the week to see what others have shared and to comment back. If you would like me to help you connect to the site, you can email me at carnahan@doe.in.gov.

  3. My wife and I are both educators, she 25+ years and myself less than 10. I was in Industry for 25+ years a chose to go back to school and am now teaching. It will be interesting to see if our perspectives are different due to the difference of time spent in the classroom

  6. Hello! I am from the School Town of Munster, located in Northwest Indiana. This is my second book club--loved the format because unlike face to face, I did not have to worry about what I was wearing or what appetizer to bring. My only problem will be two weeks of vacation. It might not be possible for me to post, but I will try.
